Learn our different investigative monitoring solutions
Wall monitoring

Historic Masonry Wall Monitoring
RESEARCH INSTALLATION
Example of an installation SMT may do on a test building lab

Parameters Measured
-
Interior air conditions
-
Moisture level in plaster, interior brick, brick (inner & outer) and sandstone (inner, outer & upper)
-
Condensation level in cavity air space
-
Differential pressure between interior & exterior air gap
-
External crack-movement tracking
RESEARCH INSTALLATION
(With Driving Rain Gauge)

COMMERCIAL INSTALLATION
Installation that SMT may perform on a commercial project

Wood Wall Monitoring
COMMERCIAL INSTALLATION

Parameters Measured
-
Interior air conditions
Moisture level in: plaster, interior brick, brick (inner and outer), sandstone (inner, outer and upper)
-
Condensation level in: cavity air space
-
Differential pressure: interior and exterior air gap
-
External crack movement tracking

Roof monitoring

Moisture Detection Tape (MDS)
-
Can be put along the crack or inserted into the crack
-
Cut to length
-
Records when and how much moisture is detected when water bridges the stainless steel hardware.
-
Discrete and flexible
-
Can easily be put in different locations for a when/how wet measurement.
Point Moisture Monitoring Sensor (PMM)
-
Two screws that can be screwed into the concrete crack.
-
Used if you are looking for presence of water and when/how wet the concrete is.
-
Measures the resistance between the two screws
-
More localized moisture measurement versus the MDS Tape.

Embedded Moisture Sensor (EMS)
-
Installed by drilling and inserting into the concrete, then filled with dry grout
-
Gets the moisture level of the concrete surrounding it - not just water on the surface.
-
When two EMS sensors are installed at different depths in a slab, you will be able to see the different moisture levels in each.
-
Can show which way the water is travelling and which surface the water is drying to.

Concrete Moisture Sensor (CMS)
-
Once calibrated the sensor can give very accurate moisture level and moisture content readings in concrete.
-
Measures the capacitance and dielectric change of moisture in the concrete.
-
Can be “cut” in the slab, or poured in place.
